Service Description;

The alarm was raised this afternoon after Police received an anonymous phone call reporting a woman missing in Ardrossan Harbour.

Troon RNLI Lifeboat was requested to assist in the search joining Police, Fire & Rescue and local Coastguard teams.

After two hours of searching Ardrossan Harbour and the surrounding areas, nothing was found and the lifeboat was ‘stood down’ by the Coastguard.

“Due to the severity of the weather conditions only the All Weather Lifeboat was launched. The winds were gusting gale force 8 to 9 with a 4 meter swell running with large holes in the sea on transit both to and from the incident. The lifeboat crew searched the area for around 2 hours without anything being found, the Coastguard were happy that a thorough search of the area had been made and stood the lifeboat down.”
