Service Description;
This afternoon at the request of Strathclyde Fire & Rescue, the inshore Lifeboat was launched to assist in the search for a male, missing in the River Garnock.
At the arrival on scene the ILB made a detailed and thorough search of the immediate area, assisting members of the Strathclyde Fire & rescue Teams' and also members of mobile Coastguard teams. After this initial search the ILB was set at anchor while two crew members waded up stream doing a 'toe-touch' search of the river and it's banks. This search, made over a considerable length of the River Garnock, proved to be inconclusive and the crew returned to the 'D class' Inshore Lifeboat.
One 30 year old woman had earlier been recovered but died later in Crosshouse Hospital, on Monday morning the body of a 33 year old male was recovered from the river by Police divers.
On completion of this search, the lifeboat stood down and returned to station and were made 'Ready for Service'.
The safe and speedy launch and recovery of both RNLI
Lifeboats was ably assisted by members of the RNLI
Lifeboats Shore Crew.
