Service Description;

The Lifeboat crew were paged this evening by Clyde Coastguard reporting that two young people were stranded in the vicinity of Irvine Harbour.

Both of Troon RNLI Lifeboats were requested to launch by the Coastguard and investigate the stranding of the people reported.  The ILB conducted the rescue in shallow water off the entrance to Irvine Harbour; the ALB was standing off in deeper water and ready to give any assistance which may be required.

Within half an hour of the pager request the two young people had been evacuated from their position of danger by the RNLI Inshore Lifeboat from Troon and given over to shore side paramedics for further care.  The lifeboats were 'stood down' by the coasguard in the knowledge that the two people in danger had been evacuated to an area of safety. On completion both lifeboats returned to Troon Lifeboat Station

“This call, resulted in the speedy rescue of two young people in distress by the water and was treated in the same professional manner and response as all other calls made to any RNLI Lifeboat.”

The safe and speedy launch and recovery of both RNLI Lifeboats was ably assisted by members of the RNLI Lifeboats Shore Crew.
