Service Description;
The alarm was raised this afternoon after the Ayr
Coastguard Mobile Unit on a routine patrol spotted
what they believed to be an upturned hull at sea
approximately 2 miles off the Pavilion at Ayr.
Troon RNLI Lifeboats were requested to launch and
investigate the sighting. At arrival on scene both
RNLI Lifeboats confirmed that the sighting was in
fact a large tree trunk and branches adrift. The
position of the hazard was passed to the Coastguard
who notified all shipping in the area of the
“Hazard to
Navigation”
“This call, although reported as a ‘false alarm,
with good intention.” was treated in the same
professional manner and response as all other calls
to any RNLI Lifeboat.”
The safe and speedy launch and recovery of both RNLI
Lifeboats was ably assisted by
