Service Description;
Clyde Coastguard paged
the RNLI All Weather Lifeboat crew this afternoon to
go to the aid of a 45 year old male with a head
injury aboard a fishing vessel.
The All Weather Lifeboat
launched to the incident and closed MFV TRIBUTE
approximately six miles West of Troon. Two crew
members from the ALB boarded the fishing vessel in
order to assess the condition of the casualty. Once
aboard it was apparent that the casualty was in need
of immediate treatment for the severe blow which he
had received above the left temple.
The casualty was
assessed, stabilised and given oxygen while being
prepared for the hazardous transfer to the ALB. Once
aboard the Lifeboat the casualty was again
stabilised as a fast transit was made to Troon
Harbour and a waiting ambulance. The casualty was
given over to the care of the Paramedics and the
Lifeboat made ready for service.
“This call involved the hazardous transfer of the
casualty from the fishing boat to the Lifeboat with
several approaches required in a two meter swell
between the two boats to effect these transfers to
and from the ‘TRIBUTE’ the casualty was stabilised
and treated in the same professional manner and
response as all other calls made to any RNLI
Lifeboat.”
The safe and speedy launch and recovery of both RNLI
Lifeboats was ably assisted by members of the RNLI
Lifeboats Shore Crew.
